Lifepath Generator is a few sheets of tables to help you fully flesh out your role-playing characters. This simple system uses six-sided dice to randomly generate ambiguous life events from childhood all the way to where your character starts. Lifepath is a great addition to any game system where you feel your character needs more depth and development.

Included tables:

  • Personality Events
  • Theme Events
  • Game Focus Events
  • Relationship Events
  • Familial Events
  • Location Based Events
  • Age-Related Events
  • Action Events (which can be used for downtime as well)
  • World Events outside of the characters
  • A 1d300 mega table of unsorted prompts for the truly adventurous (New!)

If you would like to build your character and their background simultaneously, check out the suggested pathway instructions. These create starting characters for each supported system. Currently, this includes:

  • Dungeons and Dragons 5e
  • Forged in the Dark (such as Blades in the Dark and Scum and Villainy)
  • Savage Worlds
  • Fate Accelerated
  • Genesys (including Fantasy Flight Star Wars)

LifePath Generator is not sanctioned by or affiliated with any rights-holding company or entity. This document is a fan-made supplement for any role-playing game, and if used as part of an existing game it requires that game to play.

Hey! This is really neat!

Do you mind if I make this in an online tool that performs all the rolls automatically?

Thank you! As long as there's a link here and credit you're welcome to!

Of course! (I’ll see when I can make some time to do it. Will update you)

Did you have any updates for this?

Didn’t get around to ever doing this, alas.

No worries, just was curious.
